Parc Sot d’en Barriques was created in Parets del Vallès as a response to the lack of quality green and recreational spaces in an urban area that previously lacked character and facilities. This transformation was promoted by the local council, and its design was based on a participatory process involving more than 2,800 residents. The aim: to create an intergenerational meeting space that enhances quality of life, fosters social interaction, and acts as a green refuge within the dense urban fabric. Accordingly, the Parets del Vallès City Council commissioned the architectural firm Vora Arquitectura SLP to design the new park.
We collaborated with Vora to design the corresponding installations for the new park. A basic and executive project was carried out, as well as the site supervision for all urban installations and the corresponding calculations. The scope included the complete design of the networks for water, electricity, sanitation, irrigation, telecommunications, safety, and connectivity for the new park.
Regarding water management, a separate network for rainwater and wastewater was installed, with drains along the perimeter and designated discharge points for the ornamental fountain and the bar. The system ensures sanitary quality and simplifies maintenance tasks. The fully automated irrigation system is divided into twelve sectors controlled by humidity sensors and flow meters, using drip technology and low-flow diffusers, significantly reducing water consumption compared to traditional systems.
The lighting is divided by zones, with different levels of intensity and warmth depending on the functionality of each sector. To ensure energy efficiency, all lighting fixtures are LED type. Lighting simulations and on-site tests were carried out to verify light levels and ensure compliance with lighting regulations. Electrical lines are distributed by use (irrigation, lighting, services) and are protected with independent panels and surge protection. All layouts and conduits meet technical requirements to facilitate maintenance and future expansions.
The project also includes the installation of a Wi-Fi network covering the entire project area and a video surveillance system with six high-resolution IP cameras integrated into a centralized management platform to improve security monitoring.
This intervention provides the new Parc Sot d’en Barriques with the necessary urban installations to bring to life the space that the residents of Parets once imagined.
